Esmertec Reaches Major Milestone

Over 100 million mobile handsets and multi-media devices powered by Esmertec’s software solutions

DUEBENDORF-ZURICH, Switzerland – February 14, 2007 – Esmertec™ (SWX: ESMN), a focused provider of software and services to communications device manufacturers and mobile telecom operators, is proud to announce that it has crossed the tremendous 100 million units shipped threshold, which is a significant industry milestone. As of today, Esmertec’s software solutions, mainly its unmatched Jbed™ Java™ solution, have been shipped in more than 100 million mobile handsets and consumer electronic devices. Going forward, Esmertec expects to continue increasing its market share thanks to its strong order backlog and sustained renewals of contracts with top tier customers.

In 2003, the first Jbed-enabled handset hit the market. Today, Jbed powers rich and interactive applications in mobile handsets from 4 of the 5 leading handset brands. The solution has increasingly become a long-term strategic choice for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Jbed enables OEMs to bring Java-enabled mobile handsets quickly and cost effectively to market while delivering best-in-class user experience for consumers and meeting operators’ requirements.

Today: Over 100 million units shipped
