Varioptic and IVA Corporation launch variable focus USB digital camera 

Sudbury (USA) and Lyon (France),  24th September 2007 – Varioptic and IVA Corporation announce today the launch of the first 2 Megapixel CMOS digital camera with a variable focus liquid lens – IVIN™- 2M USB 2.0.   The new IVIN™- 2M USB 2.0 camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution from 320 X 240 @ 30 frames/second up to 1600 X 1200 @ 15 frames/second incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter.At 39mm by 37mm, it is a very low power, high performance CMOS image acquisition device. It integrates a Varioptic variable focus Liquid Lens allowing “close up” to infinity focus control done completely electronically with no moving parts.  The user has complete real-time dynamic control over focus during operation with the software GUI supplied with the camera, or set in the auto focus mode for completely automatic focus. Varioptic’s liquid lens features some crucial commercial advantages over traditional technologies in terms of cost, size, robustness, power consumption and speed.
