Vidiom Systems Selects Esmertec™ to provide the JVM solution for its OCAP Products

NCTA, The National Show, New Orleans – May 3, 2004 – Vidiom Systems (www.vidiom.com), a leading television technology solutions provider, has chosen Esmertec, a leading provider of Java™ solutions for mobile phones and embedded devices, to provide its Jbed™ Java Virtual Machine (JVM) for its iTV software products and services.

In the agreement, Esmertec will deliver Jbed CDC (previously known as Jeode) with the FastDAC (Dynamic Adaptive Compiler) to enable middleware and tools solutions for cable and other broadband networks. iTV platforms are being equipped with Java technology due to software compatibility, portability, cost efficiency and resource optimization advantages.

Vidiom Systems, under contract to Time Warner Cable, has developed the industry’s first deployable OCAP solution, using Esmertec’s Jbed CDC. A demonstration of this platform can be seen at the NCTA Show from May 2 to 5, 2004 in New Orleans, USA.
